SOIL PRODUCTS
Though Whittier Fertilizer Company produces many custom soil mixes made to customer specifications, we offer four basic mixes in stock at all times. When weight is an issue, these products can be modified or mixed to meet customer requirements. All of our soil products are guaranteed 100% organic.
Top Soil
Top soil is a screened, sandy loam soil to be used for fill or to be amended by the customers as they feel appropriate.
Soil Mix
Soil mix is our top soil amended with our compost (an organic product screened to 3/8” minus) and generally used as a base for installation of lawn (seed or sod) or ground cover areas.
Planter Box Mix
Planter box mix is a product lighter in weight than soil mix. It is composed of soil mix as a base with the addition of higher end amendments (such as bark fines, peat moss, pumice, etc.) and sand. It is generally used to fill outdoor planting beds or boxes for shrubs, trees, flowers, and the like.
Potting Soil
Potting soil is a light weight planting medium composed of fine screened compost, peat moss, composted bark fines, pumice, perlite, and sand primarily used for indoor planting, outdoor pots, or amending outdoor soils when planting flowers or other more tender or delicate plants.
Cover Mulch
This product contains a combination of green waste (mostly tree trimmings) and clean waste lumber. It is ground, piled and aged, then ground again to a size of approximately 3”. After passing thru a 6’ x 16’ trammel screen, most all of the fines, 5/8” or less, are removed. The mulch is then piled until shipped.
Playground Wood Chips
Playground wood chips are a low cost option for playgrounds while keeping excellent safety standards. It is made up of organic shredded hardwood without any twigs to reduce the risk of children getting scratched.
